Lyrics

In my twenties and thirties
It was my work
That was all that mattered to me
I didn’t have the time
For anything else
Like a wife or a family
But lately, just lately
What used to be important
Isn’t what’s important to me

I want to walk my daughter down the aisle
Teach my son to hit a baseball a country mile
Rock my baby to sleep while were watching TV
Like loving daddies do
Cause it’s not just the woman that runs out of time
I hear a clock ticking too.

When there’s no one to share it
What’s it all for
How much does a lonely man need
I’ve lived life being selfish
And I don’t want to stay in a world that revolves around me
But lately, just lately
What used to be important
Isn’t what’s important to me

I want to walk my daughter down the aisle
Teach my son to hit a baseball a country mile
Rock my baby to sleep while were watching TV
Like loving daddies do
No it’s not just the woman that runs out of time
I hear a clock ticking deep in my soul
Saying before I’m too old
There’s one thing I’m longing to do
Cause it’s not just the woman that runs out of time
I hear a clock ticking too

I remember walking into Gary’s office and telling
him that I wanted to express my feelings about
being single at my age and how I felt about the
sacrifices I have made in pursuing my dreams.
I remember saying that women aren’t the only ones that feel
a “biological clock.” I had no idea how much
this song would be appreciated by other men
who have shared with me that
they feel the same.
