Lyrics

Hey mister pilot man can we take off
I?ve spent my last cent just to get across
The Caribbean Sea to where she waits for me
With a bottle of rum, a setting sun and a tropical breeze

Hey everybody sing along with me
There’s no time like island time
Nobody’s ahead nobody’s behind
Everything is fine on Island time

Miss Molly?s Polly has a nasty beak
To every girl passing by he has to speak
He say ?hey there pretty mamma you and me we mambo jamba?
And we bust a gut when he shakes his butt
To the rhythm of a rumba

Hey everybody sing along with me
There’s no time like island time
Nobody’s ahead nobody’s behind
Everything is fine on Island time

The Mary Jane is a party boat that don?t float too well
The captain wears his life jacket over his lapel
He say ?come aboard all ye we seek the treasures of the high sea
The funny thing the Mary Jane?s been beached since ?1963 (I say)

Hey everybody sing along with me
There’s no time like island time
Nobody’s ahead nobody’s behind
Everything is fine on Island time

Paul and I got together one afternoon and he
wanted to write a song about the islands.
I said let’s call it “Island Time”…I recalled hearing
that expression several times when I was scuba diving
on some island… It’s a lot of fun.
