Lyrics

I wore my anger like an armor
‘Cause I thought it made me stronger
But the angrier the weaker I became
When I finally let go of it
Once I chose to rise above it
I found my anger was the source of all my pain

The gift of forgiveness
You don’t just give to someone else
The gift of forgiveness
Is the gift you give yourself.

In the Good Book it is written
Before we can be forgiven
First we must be merciful within
It just says love the ones who hurt you
Bless the ones who curse you
There is no time like the present in your hands

The gift of forgiveness
You don’t just give to someone else
The gift of forgiveness
Is the gift you give yourself.

Ill will, what a waste
Love ain’t love till you give it away

Jimbeau and I were talking one night about forgiveness and we decided to write a song about it. Jimbeau is a master with words and called me up and recited the first verse and chorus to me. I was floored. We got together finished the song and I went to work on the melody. This song seems to really help those struggling with forgiveness.
