Lyrics

On a bad day I go to work
Where my pay is a joke and my boss is a jerk
Where every hour spent is one hour less I get to live
On a bad day I hit all the red lights
Pay bills and fees and petty fines
That chain me to this dead end job where it’s all take and no give
But on a good day, on a good day

Chorus

I don’t mind the sun still shines
God’s in heaven and that’s just fine
Everything is gonna be okay
On a good day I don’t care
‘Bout every little thing that don’t seem fair
I’m just glad to be here
On a good day

On a bad day I turn on the news
To murder and mayhem and movie previews
Of blood and guts glorified on plastic cups
That come with a Happy Meal
On a bad day I look in the mirror
I feel ugly and old and insecure
And even thought I know I’m not that’s just how I feel

But on a good day, on a good day
I don’t mind the sun still shines
God’s in heaven and that’s just fine
Everything is gonna be okay
On a good day I don’t care
‘Bout every little thing that don’t seem fair
I’m just glad to be here
On a good day

Bridge,

Cell phones, taxes, backed up traffic;
pills to kill the pain
Arrogant, hateful, self-righteous people
This whole world’s going insane

But on a good day, On a good day
I don’t mind the sun still shines
God’s in heaven and that’s just fine
Everything is gonna be okay
On a good day I don’t care
‘Bout every little thing that don’t seem fair
I’m just glad to be here
On a good day

This is a song that Paul and I started to write several
years back and got to the point of saying “let’s
come back to this one.” Three years later,
I was looking at it and called Paul and said
‘let’s revisit this one’…and I am glad we did.
It really says what we all feel at times.
